Ibladesh

Description

Ibladesh is situated by the coast of the Great Southern Lake in the Southern Highlands of the East Island. Next to the city flows the Raqqah River originating in the mountains. The mountains and river together provide a natural barrier between the Southlands and Midlands. Ibladesh is also called the 'White City' by many.

This ancient name has its origin from the first sailors who crossed the Great Southern Lake. They were used to traveling in the daytime, but on the day they arrived in Ibladesh, night had fallen upon the city. The lake was covered with fog and only their most skilled captains could find their way to Ibladesh. Through the dense fog and dim light of the moon, the high spires of Ibladesh's white marble palace could be seen, guiding the travellers safely to port. The numerous lights of houses big and small, together with the mounting palace and marble streets bathed the city in a white glow. From then on Ibladesh came to be known as the White City.

The White City is the most populous and one of the richest cities on the continent. Each section of the city is protected by multiple levels of white stone redoubts, offering protection to each parcel of land. Ibladesh is also home to miners from the northern mountains, and lumberjacks from the surrounding woodlands. As most of the city's population is focused on manufacturing and administration, Ibladesh depends on importing food in order to feed its own citizens- thus trade is vital to prosperity of the White City. The White City's manufacturing industry is acclaimed across the continent, turning the plentiful raw materials from the surrounding regions into finished products, and drawing some of the best artisans and engineers of the Southlands. A centre of learning, Ibladesh is home to the University of the South, a sprawling complex responsible for training administrators and educating young nobility in mathematics, theology, philosophy, natural science, and warfare.
