As a remote settlement sandwiched between the barrier of the palm jungle and the ocean, the modest city of Alowca has always had a uniquely individual nature. Alowca's status as a prominent south-eastern port has meant she has always been at the centre of a maelstrom of activity. A constant stream of travellers arrives and departs daily and has led to Alowca's merchant quarter taking on an ever more exotic character in recent years. Trade of all kinds take place on Alowca's markets, with almost any item you can name being available for sale, especially slaves. Most of the population's craftsmen have taken more an interest in contributing to the great public works projects, the twin horrors of the Bone Throne and the Blood Moat surrounding the city.
Alowca has often been a battleground in the past and more than one Duke has sought independence and their own crown in an effort to free themselves from the yoke of powerful neighbouring realms. It has often led to Alowca enduring all kinds of hardships, from crippling famine to being reduced to rubble in the scourge and toil of war. So often has disaster befallen Alowca that her inhabitants have become known for their pessimism. However, following an incident during the Pyre of Plenty event, the City's water supply became tainted with the Babar Elixir, awakening hate and bloodlust in the population. Rigid order keeps the population in line, and the crack of whips and screams of slaves is a common sound. Violent sports allow the common folk an outlook, often times with losing teams being sacrificed to add to the Bone Throne and the Blood Moat.
